He was coming from Abbeyshrule village at about ten o'clock on a dark night and he lost his way and walked into the canal and got drowned.
Ten years later on the 27th Jan. 1914 a woman named Bridget Clarke was coming from a neighbour's house on a dark night along the Canal when she slipped into it and got drowned.
This drowning happened about twenty yards from where the teacher was drowned.
