Long ago used a drink called swounds, and this is how it was made.
A few handfuls of millseeds were put to steep in a crock of water and to this was added a handful of new oaten meal. Then it was left steeping for about three weeks, then more water was added. It was used with porridge or used as a drink.- Collector
