They are welcome when people have jobs to do for them such as mending kettles and tin-cans. They are not welcome when they do harm such as pull fence or steal hay. In the Summer they sleep in tents but in Winter they sleep in vans. The tinkers travel in bands and in single families on high spring carts, but the tramps travel singly on foot. Some years ago there lived an old tramp about here and his name was McLuttery. He had some very funny yarns and here is one of them.
