    to take place at Clonsast every year on the feast of St.John the Baptist and continued for a week. Tents were pitched and a fair was held as well as games and amusements. Owing to fraction fights the gathering had to be put, forbidden by the clergy in the last century, but some few years ago the pattern was revived, and crowds of people make the rounds at the well and listen to a sermon, the devotion closing with Benediction.
