    Queen Gormly who had a grudge against Brian Boru and who was related to the people of Offaly, on hearing of the affair of Clonsast, upbraided Mailmoro and taunted him with being a coward and mean spirited in submitting to Brian and acknowledging him as his superior Lord. Mailmoro resolved to throw off his allegiance and mustering his force he threw in his lot with the Danes and challenged Brian to the battle of Clontarf.
