   Captain Armstrong of the North Cork Militia, and known in history as the notorious "Shears Armstrong" being the principal witness or informer against the Brothers John and Heny Shesre's who were executed in connection with the insurrection of '98 was the principal landlord or estate owener of the Ballycumber district.
   Holmes of Prospect House was instrumental in bringing the three United Irishmen (Conway, Feeney and Daly) to the gallows, was another local landlord.

   Once upon a time there was a landlord called Mullock living in Bellair. he was looked upon as a good landlord. He never evicted any people. He first came into possession of the land about the year 1860. The land was never divided. He had great power
