  1. In the year 1845 their was a glorious crop of potatoes in Ireland. It is said that the people were too lazy to take them out. This district was very thickly populated before the famine. The ruins of the homes of these people are to be seen still.
    The potatoes decayed in the drills. The year of the famine the Government supplied by great-grandfather with seed potatoes. He scooped the eyes out of the potatoes and ate the potatoes. He sowed the eyes and had the finest crop of potatoes that was ever grown along the coast of Wicklow. The other farmers said they wouldn't grow but they did grow and people came from near and far to look at them.
