There are two forges in this locality one in the townland of Maughera and one in Cullaboy. The forges are situated along the roadside. Both are near a crossroad The names of the Smiths are Boylan and Smith The shoe horses, asses and do other kind of work such as mending ploughs and also "shoeing" wheels and mending shovels and spades
They use the following tools, axes, poker, pinces, anvil, bellows and many other things.
The forges are thatched and a stone trough for cooking the iron- Collector
