    It is considered unlucky, but not totally prohibited to transact business on Good Friday, Whit Monday, May Day, and New Year's Day.
    The markets were often held a crossroads or in fields in olden times but they are now held in the local towns.
    There are no accounts of hucksters but there are accounts of pedlars and dealers in feathers and rags in olden times.
    In olden days a 1/2 d was called a mite, a 1 d a wing, a sixpence a tanner, a shilling a bob, and a sovereigna quid.
    The following coins are not in circulation now--the four-penny piece the four-shilling piece, the five-shilling piece, and the sovereign. I do not any stories of coins which always returned to their owner.
