    My parents reared me tenderly though we were all alone,
    Until I took a notion to leave my native homeI rambled round in splendour and I sported night and day,
    Until I became a navy on the Western Railway.
    II
    We had a walking Ganger, and his name was William Green,
    He was as false a young man, as ever my eyes had seen.
    He charged me 4/8, now mark the words I say,
    For a barrow I had broken on the Western Railway.
    III
    I was filled with wrath and anger, as you shall understand
    And for to take his precious life, already I had planned.
    I fixed it on my precious mind it was an awful day,
    I prepared to kill the Ganger in the Western Railway.
