    Your life shall pass away.
    May the Lord have mercy on your soul,
    When you lie in the grave.

    And pointing to his lordship,
    The prisoner he did say,
    Your own soul needs more mercy,
    So may God pity you this day.

    The warders then pulled him away,
    Out of the public sight,
    And to a cell in Armagh jail,
    They brought him on that night.
    XIII
    All you that have a noble mind,
    Pray do not take his part,
    And never contrive a wicked crime,
    Or murder in your heart.

    The above tragedy took place near Carrickmacross in 1898.
