    Attention pray without delay,
    All you that like a funny song,
    And pray draw near, and lend an ear,
    I don't intend to keep you long.

    The truth I mean for to explain.
    The whole affair I'll tell you now,
    It's about a cat I'll tell you what.
    It's really a shocking case.

    I can't be blamed to tell the names,
    Those lads you all do know,
    It's Pety Jack, that never was slack,
    And Briany Smith of Mud Wall Row.

    Pety had an over stock of cats,
    For him it was too much,
    All all the year they were badly fed,
    So he bestowed one to Briany Smith.
    V
    In a short time the stock grew thin,
    Two of the cats with Pety died,
    So with the cats away, the mice could play,
    And they had his cabin all annoyed.
