  1. Long ago the people had from a half acre to two acres of potatoes. What ever ploughing was done it was done with a wooden plough. They dug the ground with loys. Sometimes they ploughed with oxen when horses were scarce. There were several kinds of potatoes. One popular kind was the "Cup Potato". They were very yieldy potatoes. The neighbours did not help each other in putting in or taking out the crop. There was a big family in every house so the people had good help.
