    Ye maidens all both great and small.
    Come listen unto me.
    Till I relate my cruel fate, and my sad
    destiny.
    I was courted by a fair young lad,
    but he has left me soon.
    A broken hearted maiden, in the hills of Magheracloone.
    He cares not for to meet me, on a Sunday after mass.
    He ne'r will watch my foot steps, as homewards I do pass.
    Going home of his night rambles you can hear his merry tune.
    As he whistles by the lonely lane of
    the maid of Magheracloone.
    Many a pleasant day I sat, beneath
