    When our Lord was on the cross they tried to pull the nails out of his hands. In doing so he got his brest stained with blood. Ever since every robin has a red brest.

All small birds follow the cuckoo because it is said that she lays her eggs in their nests and when the young cuckoo is hatched he throws all the other young birds out of the nest and the parent birds follow the old cuckoo that layed the eggs to kill her.
    It is also said that when St Joseph and the Blessed Vergin and the baby Jesus were flying into Egept they came to men who were sowing corn. St Joseph told the men to tell the soldiers when they came that people like him did pass when they were sowing the corn. The corn by miracle grew up and was ripe next morning.
