  1. It is said that there is a ciste buried in Athlone lake and that there is a snake or some kind of a fish minding it. Some people say that if you wanted to get it the nose would be cut off you. A man from Athlone tried to get it once but he got afraid when he saw the fish beside it. Some people say that a man from Derrygorrow got it. He put out a rake in the lake and caught the frogs(?) and pulled the pot into him. It is also said that the man that lived in the house
