  1. (continued from previous page)
    No stocking cap nor cloak,
But her hair like shining silver bright,
    Hangs oe'r her shoulders bare
A milking pail all in her hand,
    So beautiful and gay
This damsel bright did me delight
By the dawning of the day

"Where are you going so soon?"
"I am going milking Sir" she said,
All in the month of June
"My passage grown, to where I'm going,
    It is so far away,
    That I must be there,
    Each morning fair,
By the dawning of the day.

From my father I got this song who is forty four years
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
