    Local Ruins
    There is a hole in one gable of this ruin supposed to be made by a cannon ball from the Battle of Aughrim.
    The most important landmarks in my District are Tirconnell Beag. There was a monastery there during the reign of the last kings of Connacht, and it is said to be a local legend that when the monks were leaving it, for another monastery in Eglish, in the County Galway. They walked in single file across the country which was a distance of about five miles.
