    The boys were skilled in making tops from blocks of wood.
    The block was first shaped like a top.
    Then a boot nail was put through the top which formed a speer on top.

    Whistles were made from bamboos and feathers.
    A bamboo was cut short and a hole was made in the centre.
    A feather was cut in the centre with a penknife, and it whistled like a bought whistle.
