(continued from previous page)to the Cross of Carrick, and there was a Shadow beside him all the time. 'Twas a bright moonlight night. When he came to the Cross the Shadow turned down towards Boyce's of Bannow.- There was a wake in Taghmon wan night at Pinder's.
About the middle of the night a knock came to the door. Wan fellow went out and there was no wan there, so he came in and closed the door. After a while the knock came again louder than before. He went out again and there was no wan there.
"Begob whoever is there I won't go out any more" says he.
The knock came again the third time. A man by the name of Furlong went out. He thought 'twas some of the party boys were playing tricks; and begob it wasnt.
