- In Toureenagreana not very far from my house in Ballykenny there was a tree growing on the side of the road at a spot called Poll na Reeha. It was owned by Parson Winter in former days. Lights used to be seen there on Christmas night and people believed that mass was said there in Penal days. The tree was an oak tree. Parson Winter who owned the land cut down the tree and sent it to a carpenter to make wheels for his car. The carpenter said it was the hardest wood he ever worked on. And the remarkable part of the story is that the wheels fell asunder the first day they were used by the parson.
