  1. Stories relating to milk, butter and churning
My father bought a cow once from a gamekeeper's wife that was in Lisrenny. Herh usband got a job somehwere else and she asked my father not to take home the cow till she was leaving Lisrenny. He left the cow with her for a week.
When he went for the cow she showed him as much butter as she would hvae from six cows.
When he took home the cow he churned her milk by itself. When he churned she had not as much butter as would grease a gimlet.
She gave up giving milk and he had to sell her. It happened that all the other tenants cows were affected in the same way. They had to sell them and buy others. The others were all right.
John Kearney, Roseybrook. Told to me by my father, John Kearney, Roseybrook.
