Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Away back in the sixteenth century, in a place between Ballivor and Kildakery there lived a gentleman named Garret Earl who kept a corn mill that stood beside the road edge. He was a great follower of the Meath Hounds. One night he disappeared in some mysterious way and it was supposed by people living in the district that he used to appear at night time on horse back, the horse standing on a wood pack and shod with gold shoes. A woman in the neighbourhood was looking for her cow which strayed away and on passing by the mill after dark saw the man on horseback who asked her how long the shoes would last before they would be worn, and she said they would never be worn. He gave a great yell and said "unlucky woman" if you said tomorrow I would be free, but now I must remain here for all time. It never was known that he was seen by any body after that. All that remains of the Land-mark known as Carls-
