Ar an leathanach seo
- Travelling people still call to our home. The same people have been doing so for many years. Most of them are very poor. There are two kinds of travelling folk - alms beggars and pedlars. The pedlars get their supplies from the nearest big town to them. These travellers are generally welcome if they do not call often. They never remain at night. The alms they accept are - sugar, flour, potatoes and milk. The names of the best known are - McDonaghs, McCauly and O'Learys. They come here mostly in winter for to get turf. Often times they bring news from distant parts and tell funny stories. Local people gather around at night to hear them telling stories and sometimes the local people give them money to have their fortunes told.
