Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)d in the lard. They were taken out and left to dry until they were needed for use. This was the way people used to make candles as there was no such thing as oil or electricity in those days.
The candle-stick they used was a sort of mettle tongs with a piece of wood at the bottom of it.
In olden days the people used to grate potatoes in a dish and when they had that done they used to drain off all the water they could find. Then they used to take out the starchy part and put in cans till they wanted it. When they would take it out they would put hot or cold water in it and some used to put flour in it if it was too thin.
