   Marriage
   It is still the custom in my parish of Kilpipe to "blow" people who are about to be married. The young men of the district to get horns made out of bottles which make a wailing sound, and when dusk falls they go out in a body and blow near the bride-elect or the bridegroom's house for several bight's previous to the wedding. It is not complimentry to a pair to be "blown" but otherwise - and it is often done if the bride is elderly or unpopular.

   Eggs.
   When setting a clutch of eggs, old women here, generally did so "in the name of God" making the sign of the Cross over then.

   Fire
   The hearth is swept clean, before going to bed, dirty water thrown out and clean water left in, because "the Good People" like to find it so.

   Beliefs about Salt.
   You may borrow Salt from a neighbour but it is never lucky to return it. If you spill some throw it over your left shoulder. You should never "help" anyone to
