Ar an leathanach seo
- There are four forges in our parish. There are three owned by Reillys, and Mr Flood owns another. Their father's and their grandfathers have been smiths. There is one on the Cavan road, and another on the Virginia road, and two on the Granard road. There is one on the roadside near the town, and the other three are in the town of Ballyjamesduff.The forges are all small except one, the biggest one is slated, but the door is no special shape, and there is only one fireplace. The bellows is made of wood and leather, it is not made locally.The smith has hammers, and chisels, an anvil, and iron at his work. He shoes horses and asses, but he does not shoe any cattle. He makes ploughs, and harrows, and picks. The ploughs are made of iron, the harrows are made of iron and wood, and the picks are made of iron and wood.
