Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Shops weren't common in olden times. People had to go to the nearest town to make purchases. Buying and selling was carried on after Mass on Sunday. It is still practised. Money was not always given for goods, they were exchanged, sometimes, a few days of labour was given.
It was considered unlucky to spend money on New Year's Day because if anyone spent it he might keep spending the whole year round. Pedlars and hucksters visited the district long ago, and some of them visit it still, their names are Mr. OBrien, Mr Murray, and Mr Newland. Mr OBrien and Mr Murray sell porringers, mugs, cups, and laces. Mr Newland sells, brooches laces, hair brushes, combs, and rings.
