- Seventy years ago it was a custom on the day of the wedding, for a number of men riding on horses to meet outside the church and start a race to the home of the husband.
It was an exciting event, the winner was rewarded with a quart bottle of whiskey, and permission to kiss the bride, this race was known as "Running for the bottle."
