- There is a fort in my uncle's farm at Carnaveagh in the parish of Killinkere.
It was called in olden times the "ring fort" because it is a round mound of earth.
There is a fence all around it with two lone bushes in the centre of it and holes at the root.
One time a man named Mr. Smith tried to look down into these holes, but when he looked down he could not see the bottom then he got a long stick and tried to touch the bottom but the stick went down that he could not see it.
One day he had a man ploughing and he put him to plough this fort and every score he made it closed back over again so he had to stop ploughing it.
