  2. "Bird catching" is well known to the boys of this district, a large sieve is got and propped up by a piece of stick, then a long piece of strong twine is fastened to the stick, and corn scattered under the sieve, then the person catches the string in his hand and hides it at a safe distance from which he can see the sieve, then a bird will presently come and feed on the corn, the boy will then pull the string and capture the bird.
