  1. This was a round flat basket made of sally rods with sides about four inches high. It was often called a skib. When the pot of potatoes was teemed for the dinner, they were thrown out on the basket. It was ten left sitting on the empty pot in the middle of the kitchen floor. Very often the family sat round the basket when eating their dinner.
    A Clothes Basket.
A wicker basket the shape of a zinc bath was in most houses for carrying the clothes to and from the hedge. The clothes were left in it until ironing time.
    A Creel.
This was used for carrying the potatoes from the ridges to the pit in the field, and also for carrying turf from a bog near by. It was hoisted on a man's back.
