Resin candles were also used for showing light to the people. In most houses there was a bed in the kitchen it was left along the side wall this bed was called a settle bed. This bed was made of wood in the shape of a box. It was made in two parts and it was put together with two hinges so that it could be closed during the day and it often served as a seat.
