Dan Black who lived in Bawn went out to bring in a bag of potatoes from the potato pit got dead in a drift of snow. - In the year 1839 there lived a man, Bernard Brady with his wife and child in an old mud cabin beside Dernakesh bridge. At this time Dernakesh N.S. was just built and there was a few planks lying outside. Bernard Brady stole one of them and used it as an arch over the fire. The following Sunday the parish priest announced off the altar that the plank would be the cause of that man's death. Three nights after the big wind rose.
