    seeding and spreading.
    Bhoscám grows most frequently in poor potato ground. The white thick semidivided roots of this plant are said to have been eaten greedibly by the people during the famine years. It is difficult to eradicate
    Cúthalán or a kind of pig nut can hardly be regarded as a weed as it grows only on favoured sunny banks
    Sámh caorach is a weed that infests gardens and is difficult to eradicate. It occurs most grequestly in worn land.
    Faorthain or scutch grass though useful in reclaiming bog land if difficult to get rid of when it gets a hold in gardens or cultivated lands. The trouble with this grass is that is sends out roots from its joints and therefore quickly covers the ground if not prevented. To get rid of it is difficult on this account, and the only safe is to dig up the grass and burn it. If burned, unless to a great depth it grows again.
    Coirnéal Caisil grows in shady ground or in the shelter of hedges. Its leaf is round and smooth similar in shapre to the áithne or cocksfoot but much smaller and lacking altogether the
