    back and held it in place. The plough was used for rocky hilly ground and was light but the iron plough was prepared for the long furrow and the heavy land. There are none of these ploughs left now. The spade are bought in the shops. For sowing the spade potatoes are chosen carefully. The potatoes about the size of a large hen egg are sown whole but the larger ones are cut in two or three according to the sound appearance of the buds thereon.
    Sometimes a piece is rejected and is called a líadar.
