  1. One of the local landlords was Parson Bourke of Heathfield.
The family was in the district for generations.
The Bourkes were always looked upon as very bad landlords. Parson Bourke evicted nearly all his tenants on one day and burned all their houses. Most of those tenants went to a America.
Others built houses on the montain and are now back again in possesson of their land. The landlords were English planters who took the land by force from the people.
The land was often divided and subdivided by the landlords.
At any election if the tenants did not vote to suit the landlord they would be evicted at once.
Tithes were collected in this district in former times.
