  1. Colonel Saunders Knox Gore was the local landlord and the family was settled in the district for many years. He was a very fair landlord and lived in a beautiful mansion in Belleek Manor near Ballina. As far as we know there has been very little evections or plantings in this district. Another districts the evected people had to get out and go to America.
    Long ago in the reign of Cromwell English protestants were brought over to Ireland and planted in Catholic homes If tenants did not pay the rent with in a certain time the landlords could evict them. Long ago landlords used to punish tenants or servants for any trival act.
    In a district up the midlands there lived a very wealthy landlord.
    In a little cottage nearby there lived a widow and her son.
