- This falls on 10th November.
A very old custom is still kept that of spilling blood for St Martin's to commerorate his martyrdom. This is done in every household before the 10th as there is an old belief that St Martin will accept the sacrifice before but not after the Eve of the 10th. It is considered that ill luck will those who do no properly observe this old custom. - You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
