- (continued from previous page)the men used to put their wives up on the horses' backs with themselves and they used have a race to the bridegrooms home. Money was given to the people who used get married and sometimes cattle. Long ago brideogs used to come to the bride's house. They used be dressed in torn clothes. When they came they used be very bold. They used to come on big horses and frighten the people. They do not come now.
There is a party held in the home of the bride's parents a month after the marriage and it is called the hauling home. May and October are considered very unlucky months to get married. Monday and Friday are considered unlucky days to get married. A married couple generally get many presents. When the bride is going home after a month she must wear something old and something new, something borrowed and something blue.
At one time the marriage ceremony used be celebrated in the bride's home. This was about 100 years ago.(continues on next page)
