- Once upon a time there was a giant. He was standing on Carrick hill and he smigged a stone so big that six men could not lift it. He smigged it off his finger and thumb. People say there is gold under it and the fairies dance round it on Hallow Eve night. This stone is still to be seen at Trummon.
One night a man was comng up the field and he was drawn to the fairies by their singing. He stayed with them to the next day as he thought but alas! He was away three hundered years. When he came away from the stone he was a feeble old man. And he was in what he thought a new field altogether – the field was ploughed and the seed was dropped in it and the crop was yielding plentifully. - Collector
