This poem was made by an old railway ganger, when the Donegal railway was being made.
    I
Its of a fearless railway man,
The truth I must pen down.
    His name was Miley Synnod.
    He closed with forty pound.
    II
It being on a Monday morning,
    I never will forget.
    When sixteen railway labourers,
    Marched up to Miley’s hut.
    III
Saying Miley you have the money,
    The truth you can’t deny.
You’ve left the men that earned it,
Sore all for to weep and cry.
    IV
    O we’ll have him arrested,
    In irons firmly bound.
    And conveyed into Sligo gaol,
    All for these forty pounds.
