An Irish man went to Scotland, when he landed there he went for work to the "pit" head, There was a damp pit and there was a fan at the pit head for taking air down to the men,
He thought it was a cross, so he knelt to say a prayer at it,
So the engine man turned on steam, and the fan went around and struck the poor Irish man on the head.
He got up and looked at the fan, and he said to it bedamed to you I thought it was the cross of Christ, and what was it, but the which gig of hell's blazes. - Collector
