  1. In this district mumps are cured in a very curious manner. The patient is led across a stream which divides two townlands. Round the patient's neck is placed a horse's halter. The driver is a person whose father and mother have the same surname.
    Cure for "sty"
    Nine gosseberry thorns are picked. The sore spot is pricked with eight of them. The ninth is thrown over the person's left shoulder.
    Cure for Whooping Cough.
    A donkey is got. Some oats are got to keep the donkey quiet. The patient is put under the donkey's legs three times.
