  1. Local Place Names
    There is a field called the "Big Meadow" in Woodland. It is about a quarter of a mile from our house. In the house lives a lady called Miss Green. In this field that I have mentioned there is a large "Gentle Bush". This means a bush that never was planted.
    Two men were sent to cut this tree, there came hundreds of white mice out of it, and ran round the men's feet. It can be seen to this very day.
