  1. The birds that are commonly found in my district are crows, seagulls, thrushes, wrens, robins, swallows, blackbirds, wood pigeons, wild geese, jack daws, ravens, mag pies, blue caps, willie wag-tails, cuckoo, starling, snipe, grouse, larks, moss cheepers, sparrows, hawks, corncrakes, water hens, yellow-hammers, the finch, green linnet and owls.
Yes, a few of them migrate.
The wild-geese come to us for only the very cold weather of the winter. When seen they are always flying in a flock high up in the air and they are said to fly in a group that always represents a letter of the alphabet. The starlings visit us about the same time of year. They come when the weather is coldest or just before a snowfall and are always seen in large flocks sitting in the fields. They never seem to fly very high. The goldfinch & the peewits or lapwings are never seen except in Winter either.
The cuckoo comes here for April, June and July. It is said to be a bad sign of the weather if the cuckoo's call is heard too early in the year.
