- A Great Soldier
There was a king in Ireland who's name was Brian Boru. He was king of Munster and later became king of Ireland. When the danes plundered Lambay Island he swore he would drive the danes out of his native land.
He arrived at Dublin on Good Friday morning and marched out to Clontarf just before sunrise. Where Fairview park now stands the battle took place. With a crucifix in his hand he led his victorious army out to meet the Danes.
Brian himself went back into his tent and left his son in charge of the Geals. The Irish drove the Danes into the sea with great slaugh-ter. In the battle a few Danish soldiers escaped and killed Brian in cold blood.
Brians bods was brought to Swords monas-tery along the Kinsealy road through Feltrim to the monastery. After he was brought to Kincora where he was buried.Niocholas Kane,
