    The following are the three verses of "Sgibbereen".
    Oh. father dear I oft times hear you speak of Eirinn's isle
    Her lofty hills her valleys green, her mountains rude and wild
    You say it was a lovely land wherein a prince might dwell
    Oh, why did you abandon it? the reason to me tell.
    Oh, son I loved my native land, with evergy and pride.
    A blight came over all my land, my sheep and cattle died.
