    She knows my father well and when she sees him coming in the evening she runs to the gate to meet him. My father loves "foddering the cows. When the cows get old she is slaughtered and leather is made from her hide, and combs, handles of knives, and beads from her horns. It is an old custom to say "God bless her," when speaking of the cow.
