  1. The local fairs are held in the fairgreen. They are always held in towns. The buyer often transact business in the country at farmer's houses. It is still done. Fairs were held formerly which have now been discontinued such as Keadue because it is too remote. There are no local traditions of fairs held on hills, in the neighbourhood of cemeteries, or castles, forts, etc.
The town fair is held in the streets sometimes, and in the fair green. Toll is not paid on cattle sold.
When an animal is sold luck money is given. It is called luck money. It is generally gave in half crowns. When a bargain has been made the parties show their agreement by striking hands. The animals when sold are marked with a raddle with mud on the flank, and by clipping the hair at the side.
When the animal is sold the halter or rope is given away to the buyer.
The great fairs of the year are held at Christmas
